CAMBUSLANG Rangers have announced they are to advertise for a new manager.
Co-caretaker managers Archie Malley and Gary Shilliday were informed on Monday night by the club that they would not both be appointed to the position on a permanent basis.
However, the club say they will both be welcome to apply for the position outright.
The pair took charge after the shock resignation of Scott Archer in October, after just 17 months in the Somervell Park hotseat.
A club spokesman said: “The club has decided to advertise for the post of manager.
“Both Gary and Archie were informed and we thank them for what they have done so far, and for what they do while the remain in charge.
“They have been told they can apply for the job if they so wish.”
Applications for the post have to be submitted to Jim Dickie at Somervell Park by two weeks today, December 28.
Gary said: “I’ll definitely be putting my name forward and throwing my hat into the ring, but I don’t want to say much more than that at this moment.”
Archie said: “As far as I’m aware, the players want us to stay, but it’s up to the club after that, and they will do what they think is right.
“They will make the final decision, but I don’t think it’s my place to make a comment.”
Since Gary and Archie took charge, they have won three league games and lost four - although they had three points deducted for fielding an ineligible player against Vale of Leven.
Former Lang keeper Allan Wardlaw, who was axed as manager of Larkhall Thistle earlier this season, is thought to be one of the names in the frame for the post.
He said: “I’ve not made any secret of the fact that it’s a job I’ve always wanted.
“I live locally, it’s a team I enjoyed playing for, and have a lot of affection for, so yes, I’d definitely be interested in the post.
“At Larkhall, I was up against it financially, but I was still able to bring in 15 players, all of under £1000, all of whom were professionals, not amateurs.
“I would hope that not all of my time there is held against me, as there are still people at the club who have good things to say about me.
“There was just a string of different circumstances happening there at the time, and things didn’t work out, but I believe I’ve got a lot of offer Cambuslang Rangers.”
