Queen’s Park gaffer Gardner Speirs insists his side must start taking their chances if they’re to get the desired result against Berwick this Saturday.
The Spiders will travel down to Shielfield Park this weekend hoping to take the three points from mid table Berwick and continue their push for a promotion place.
The Borderers were on the wrong end of a 6-3 thrashing by bottom of the table Stirling Albion at the weekend, and former St Mirren player Gardner knows they will look to make up for that poor performance.
He said: “Berwick have just came off a disappointing result for them so I’m sure they’ll be fired up.
“It’s always a difficult place to go and we know we’ll need to be at our best.
“We’ll go down and be positive and try and get the right result, it won’t be easy as they have some very good players, although so do we.
“I’m hoping we can make more of the chances we create.
“Some of our play on Saturday was good and we did make chances but we need to take a higher percentage of them.
It’s something we’ll work on and hopefully improve upon.
“We’ve got a practically fully fit squad, Davie Anderson had a wee bit of cramp on Saturday but he should be fine for the game this weekend, other than that there should be no concerns.”
Gardner praised left-sided midfielder Andy Robertson who scored a fantastic goal on Saturday to ensure Queen’s got a share of the spoils.
He also praised the build up play and hoped that Queen’s could carry it on.
Gardner added: “Andy scored a very good goal on Saturday, hopefully this will give him confidence and he can take than in to the next game. Of course the team played their part as the build up to the goal was excellent.
“Hopefully we can take that creativity in to the next match.”
There was some great news for the young Spiders however.
The club has clinched its first title of the season with the 19s being crowned SFL League Champions. The boys’ closest rivals, Airdrie United, crashed 5-0 to Berwick Rangers, leaving Queen’s six points clear with just one game left.
In their final league game of the season as they beat Ayr United 5-0 in their last match - ensuring they won the league in style.
