A Cambuslang running club have taken a great stride forward recently.
For the Ronhill Cambuslang Harriers have now been joined by a runner from Ethiopia!
The club spotted Wegene Tafese running earlier this year and persuaded him to join the Harriers, with the club’s Jim Leishman helping him settle in.
And they’re hopeful he can make a great addition to the club.
The club’s Robert Anderson, who is now coaching the talented runner, was delighted to welcome him.
Robert said: “He’s had quite a journey to get over here to Scotland.
“He’s had to travel through various other countries to get here
“He ran a race in June and we spotted him there, as did quite a few others! We approached him afterwards and were able to get him to agree to join up.
“Jim Leishman has agreed to help him get settled in as he adjusts to Scotland.”
Already Wegene has won the individual title at the Scottish 10K Championships in Stirling, and has become established as a talent to watch.
Robert added: “He’s very talented, and we’re hopeful he can go on to be successful here.”
