Tennis: Rutherglen set for new season

RUTHERGLEN Lawn Tennis Club are getting set for an ace new season, which will get underway this Saturday.

At their recent AGM, the following office bearers and committee members were appointed:

Alyson W Tannahill, president; Mabeth Allan, vice-president; Ina Leslie, treasurer; Moria Henderson, secretary; Graeme Allan, committee; Paul Brightley, committee.

Alyson said: “We have a full year of events planned with our first American Tournament on Saturday, April 4, at 1.45pm, and everyone is welcome.

“Following this, we are holding a coffee morning within our clubhouse on April 18 at 10am. This is to continue our fundraising efforts.”

The club’s tennis coaching programme has restarted and if anyone is interested they should phone Stuart Clark, the club’s resident coach, on 07939 311 170

Alyson added: “We are pleased to report that our court upgrade programme has had a welcome boost with Viridor Credits- Scotland awarding us £30,000 towards our fundraising efforts.

“We are hoping to raise £100,000 and are currently progressing a grant application with SportScotland. All donations to our club will be gratefully received.”
