A TRIO of youngsters from Halfway’s Phoenix Thai Boxings were honoured at the recent Scottish Thai Boxing Association annual awards ceremony held in Johnstone town hall.
There was success for 15-year-old Amy Pirnie from Dalmarnock and Cambuslang lad, 10-year-old TJ Everett both recieved trophies in the individual club awards as both junior female and junior male student of the year.
The real honours were to come later when TJ was runner-up as junior male fighter of the year, being nominated at such a young age says a lot about his potential and attitude to the sport.
Both Phoenix girls, Amy and 15-year-old Caitlin Faulds, also from Cambuslang were two of the three nominees as junior female fighter of the year, with Amy taking the honours.
Both girls have had a very successful year with Caitlin taking two Scottish titles and Amy winning double gold medals at the world championships to add to her British belt.
Thanks to all the coaches of the STBA who nominated and voted for the Phoenix three as recognition of their endeavours and commitment to their sport.
