Man appears to have been cured of HIV

AN American man who was HIV positive and recieved a bone marrow transplant appears to be have been cured of the disease.  

After developing leaukaemia, the man who is in his forties recieved two bone marrow stem cell transplants after chemotherapy failed to treat the cancer.  

The bone marrow was taken from a donor who had a natural genetic resistance to HIV.  

Around one to three in every hundred people possess a gene mutation, giving them a natural resistance to the disease.

And three years later the man is free from both HIV and leaukaemia - with all of his blood and bone marrow cells now HIV-resistant.
