MP Alexander to appear before MSPs

Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander is to appear before MSPs next week to explain the consequences of the Budget, it has been confirmed.

The Liberal Democrat, who serves under Conservative Chancellor George Osborne in the Treasury, will appear before Holyrood's Finance Committee next Tuesday.

It follows an appearance by Scottish Secretary Michael Moore at a special meeting of committee convenors last week.
