Almost 10 people a day were evicted from their rented homes last year, a housing charity has said.
Shelter said 3,573 tenants in social housing were forced out in Scotland, almost all for rent arrears. The figures were revealed in a report by the charity, which did not include the number of evictions by private landlords.
Shelter director Graeme Brown said: "It shows that eviction rates in the social sector, primarily for rent arrears, which should be recovered without resorting to such Dickensian measures, are alarmingly high.
