Universal Connections get set for Christmas

Rutherglen Universal Connections will be hosting an afternoon tea with Santa this weekend.

The event takes places on Saturday, December 15, from 2-4pm at the youth centre in Burnhill Street.

Guests will be able to come into Universal Connections and have a relaxing afternoon tea served to them whilst any children can visit Santa’s grotto.

There will be stalls selling jewellery, homemade cakes and tablet, face painting, raffles and Hallmark cards.

This event is open to all ages.

Visitors will also be able to have a look round the centre to find out some of the exciting projects which the young people are involved in.

This event is the first of many being organised by the Pink Ladies Initiative.

This is a group of young girls who aim to raise money for charity, whilst holding health and community events.

The Pink Ladies Initiative has just been relaunched with a new team.

Previous fundraisers raised thousand pounds for Breast Cancer Charities including Cancer Backup and Breast Cancer Care.

Tickets for the afternoon tea cost just £2 for adults and £1 for children which includes a free visit to Santa and a small gift.

Universal Connections’ Victoria Barnett explained: “We are really excited about this event.

“This is a perfect venue for a fun-filled Christmas afternoon.

“Take the stress out of shopping and come and relax in our centre whilst the children are entertained.

“We’ll have lots of goodies on sale and the chance to win some fantastic prizes too.

“Plus all the profits raised on the day are going to The Yorkhill Children’s Foundation, so you’ll be helping out an extremely good cause too.

“This is another fantastic opportunity for local members of the community to find out what exactly we do at Universal Connections and have a look round the centre.”
