Rutherglen man dies after road accident

Tributes have poured in for a Rutherglen man who was tragically killed in a car accident on Dalmarnock Road last week.

Twenty-five-year-old Craig Thomson, also known as ‘Stuta’, was knocked down by a Nissan Qashqai car while crossing Dalmarnock Road near to its junction with Downiebrae Road at around 11.15pm on Wednesday, December 5.

Police and an ambulance attended, but the former Stonelaw pupil was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 27-year-old man, and his three passengers were uninjured.

Craig’s funeral will tak eplace this Saturday (December 15) at 10am at Rutherglen Cemetery.

It is understood Craig, who was a massive Rangers fan, wanted everyone at his funeral to wear Rangers tops.

Tributes poured in on social networking site Facebook. A page called R.I.P Craig Thomson “Stuta” was set up with hundreds of people paying tribute.

Nicole Davis wrote: “Still can’t believe it, Main Street won’t be the same without seeing ur face and a quick how’s things. U were such a friendly guy and no one could ever say a bad word about u. RIP Stuta.”

Barry Evans wrote: “Great wee guy never walked by without saying hello and 1 time put £ in my wee boys pram.”
