A RUTHERGLEN dominoes team have done their bit for charity after a recent race night.
The Picture House team, who compete in the Rutherglen and District Domino League, raised the sum of £600, which they divided equally between their own funds and the Yorkhill Children's Foundation.
The foundation provide medical equipment and resources which benefit sick children.
A spokesman for the Picture House team said: “We were a new domino team which formed last season. “It came up in conversation with one of the staff that if we wanted to do some fundraising, we could do it there so we held a race night to raise funds for ourselves and a good cause.
“As it was the first one we had done, we asked the Picture House to nominate the charity and they chose the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation, which is an excellent charity to support.
“We were delighted with the number of shops in the area who donated prizes to us. They were very generous and we would like to thank them for that.
“We had a lot of support and £600 was raised on the night, which was just brilliant.
“Half of it has gone to the domino team for funds, and we were delighted to present the other half to Yorkhill.
“We hope to have another event in the near future.”
Gemma Porter, community fundraising assistant for the Yorkhill Foundation, said: “We were really delighted to have received this substantial donation from the domino team.
“It was a nice wee surprise when we came into the office and found out about it.”
