Calderwood after school club invite parents for open day

CALDERWOOD After School and Holiday Club are inviting parents to an open day to see what they have to offer.

The newly-opened group operate within the new school building at Calderwood Primary School.

Offering activities such as arts and crafts, board games, computer games, construction games, table-top games, football, and a Wii, the group have gone from strength to strength since they opened in 2009.

They have a safe outdoor play area at their disposal, while the building is also designed with disabled children in mind, with staff who are trained to support them.

There is also a homework club which has proved very popular.

The concept behind Calderwood After School and Holiday Club is simple - give the kids what they want.

They boast a full drum kit where the children often do their impersonation of Phil Collins (without the gorilla suit!), play keyboards, sing karaoke, chat with their friends or just read a book.

When the weather is dry, they play outside.

The children who currently attend the club love going along and they get quite annoyed when their parents turn up to collect them!

The club also provide the children with healthy and wholesome snacks. The children are encouraged to help themselves, learning all about texture and taste.

The staff listen to the children's wants and needs. If the children want something new for their snacks, then they provide them.

Anyone interested in making use of the club can attend the Open Day on Wednesday, March 3, from 2-6pm.

This is an ideal opportunity for parents to drop in, have a look at what the club have to offer and chat to the staff. This is also an opportunity to register your child at the club whether you are looking to use it from two days or five days or just during holidays or school in-service days.
