RUTHERGLEN actor Scott Kyle is set to celebrate his theatre company’s success with a high five.
For Scott, who started his No Limits Theatre company in 2006 when still at college, is putting on a fifth night of Singin’ I‘m No a Billy, He’s a Tim at Rutherglen Town Hall.
The previous four shows have all been sell-outs, as the play, written by Des Dickson, centres on Billy, a die-hard Rangers fan, and Celtic fanatic Tim who both find themselves sharing a cell on the day of an Old Firm game.
Former Stonelaw pupil Scott said: “We’ve now got a fifth date added at the Town Hall, for the Friday night.
“We’re also going to be doing a matinee in Hamilton Town House, and on March 2 will be doing a variation of the show for the local secondary schools.
“Hopefully, that could lead to a schools tour and be able to spread the anti-sectarian message of the play across Scotland.
“I personally think that everyone in Scotland should see this play, young and old.”
Scott also hopes to have a special visitor along to one of the productions, in former Rangers and Scotland goalkeeper Andy Goram, having recently met him and told him about the show.
It’s not just in Scotland that the play has been a hit.
Scott explained: “We’re just back from Derry in Northern Ireland having performed there last Tuesday and Wednesday, where we were given standing ovations.
“To be given a standing ovation there was just an amazing feeling, as people came from across the community to see the play.
“We’re going to Dublin in March, but the theatre in Derry are hoping to get us back again, as we had such a good response so we could be playing there on St Patrick’s Day.
“Every time we do the show, no matter where it is, we get such positive feedback, so when people go back to work they tell their colleagues about it, then they want to come and see it.
“It’s amazing.”
Billy and Tim have given him great success and exposure, and that has allowed Scott to branch out and attract the likes of Coronation Street actor, Charlie Lawson, for the theatre company’s next production, Blue Hen.
Scott added: “We’ll be giving out leaflets about Blue Hen at the Town Hall shows of Billy and Tim.
“We’re going to have over 1000 people coming, so hopefully that will give the new show some exposure and create the same level of interest.”
