CATHKIN Primary School's Burns Supper was a tremendous tartan success last Friday.
The primary sevens were actively involved in organising the Burns Supper.
The children from Room 11 who run a cafe in the school were the waiters and waitresses. John came to the school to play the bagpipes.
And Scott McCluskey gave the Address to the Lassies and Taylor Finlay lead the reply.
Fiona and the other kitchen staff worked very hard to make the Burns Supper and the children thanked them by giving flowers.
In the afternoon, one child from each class won a Scottish reciting competition and the school's house captains from Murray, Stewart, Bruce and Wallace were leading the awards in the afternoon and presenting them.
Every class was working hard at learning Scottish poems and songs and using this as a stimulus for other work too, like in art and music. It was a hugely actively involved afternoon with very confident children showing how successful they are in Cathkin Primary School.
They are effective contributors and responsible citizens at organising the event for parents and carers.
Mrs McFadyen also helped make the celebrations even more enjoyable by playing the guitar for the Skyscraper Wean song.
Skye Anderson (P7), Stewart House captain, said: "It is a great opportunity to celebrate success with the children and I really like being up on the stage."
Connor Gardner won the P7 award for reciting The Evacuee and said: "The poem was Scottish and also linkned to our class interdisciplinary topic of World War 2."
Parents and carers also enjoyed the afternoon and said that they were proud of their children and the school for such an entertaining afternoon.
The children from nursery to primary six were invited to entertain the primary sevens and their guests at the Burns Supper.
The entertainment was:
Health o' the Lassies, rooms nine and 11. Reply from the Lassies, rooms nine and 11

All the primary seven children in rooms nine and 11 prepared for their special Burns Supper. They followed the traditional order of the Burns Supper

A school spokesman said: “We would also like to thank the piper for coming and the staff and children for all their hard work including the kitchen staff, janitor, office and support staff and Mrs McFadyen.
“On behalf of all at Cathkin Primary School, we hope you enjoy the Burns Supper entertainment.”
