BURNSIDE Primary School pupils were last week treated to a visit from tennis superstar Andy Murray.
The world number four visited the school on Thursday morning as part of the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Supergrounds scheme.
During the visit he spoke to the pupil council as well as the school’s Eco committee.
And a lucky selection of pupils were given the chance to ask him questions.
The tennis hero also visited the school’s supergrounds and was impressed with what he saw.
Students also treated the former US Open finalist to a presentation of the garden including what it looked like before and after the improvement work.
A selection of lucky pupils also got the chance to grill the superstar as he answered their questions in a classroom.
He was also taken to the assembly hall and shown a presentation the children had prepared for his visit.
Andy also took a few questions in the assembly hall.
He was asked if he would win Wimbledon to which the athlete replied: “I hope so!”
To finish off his visit he was shown around the school’s superground garden.
Speaking to the Reformer, Andy said that he was impressed with the school and the questions the children asked him.
He said: “It’s very good. I didn’t get to see that much of it but I liked what I did see.
“I like taking questions from kids, as they’re always honest!
“The questions the Burnside youngsters gave were good and they were interesting.”
The children posed a number of questions to the Dunblane man including where was his favourite holiday destination, his favourite movie, his preferred music and who he is most friendly with off court.
And they were pleased to hear that he loves Will Ferrel films and Lady Gaga and his favourite holiday destination is Miami.
Deputy head teacher Maureen Mooney said: “Andy was there as part of the Royal Bank of Scotland’s grant for out central garden.
“It’s a literacy garden that will be used to take our curriculum outdoors.
“RBS sponsor him and he was there to see the garden and we showed a power point of what is was before and all the work that went into it.
“He was very nice and the kids were so excited that he came to visit. We have a few kids who really enjoy playing tennis.
“They all asked really good questions.”
