Cambuslang post Office branch to relocate next month

A CAMBUSLANG Post Office is moving premises - 11 months later than it was supposed to.

The Gilbertfield Post Office in Halfway was due to move to a Costcutters store at 213 Hamilton Road in January.

The move was delayed, but last week Post Office Ltd announced the move would take place next month.

The current branch will shut on Monday, November 9, with the new one opening its doors on Thursday 12th.

Post Office say the move will provide customers with better and brighter premises just 60 yards away from the current one.

However, there is bound to be some sadness in the area at the loss of yet another crown office.

A spokesperson for the Post office said the delay had been “due to circumstances outwith our control.”

Ray Jefferson, field change advisor, Post Office Ltd, said: “I am delighted to announce that we will be relocating Gilbertfield Post Office branch into better, brighter new premises.

“The facilities and service that we provide to our customers is of paramount importance and we are confident that our customers will benefit, in the longer term, by this change.”

During the period of closure, the nearest alternative branch for locals will be the Cambuslang branch, 152 Main Street, Cambuslang, Glasgow, G72 7EL.
