Pupils honoured for perfect attendance

OVER 250 pupils from 10 schools in Rutherglen and Cambuslang have received medals to mark their perfect attendance.

The primary pupils, 251 in total or 10 per cent, received the specially-struck Supercounty medals to honour a full academic year with no absences.

Head of Supercounty John Scott said: "It's both a pleasure and an honour to have this opportunity for the fourth successive year to recognise and reward so many pupils who have achieved such an impressive attendance record.

"While paying tribute to all the children involved, I would Iike to make special mention to the 36 pupils who are collecting their second award in two years.

"Hopefully, such consistency and application at this young age will instil in these children a sense of self-discipline and pride in their achievement as they mature and move from school into the workplace.

"After all, the more regularly the pupils attend school, the better they will perform - especially when they progress to secondary schools, and create a stronger foundation on which to build their career."
