Pupils enjoy healthy lessons
HEALTH was on the agenda at Croftfoot Primary School.
The school held a health fortnight, which was full of different activities over five days.
Head teacher Mrs Grant said: “It was superb and really re-enforced all the messages that we’ve been teaching them in class.
“We had lots of outside agencies in, from the fire brigade to Hopscotch theatre group.
“I was really impressed by how the children responded, and how knowledgeable they already were about healthy living.
“It was a fun way to teach the children about these things.”
First up for the kids was a road safety class, with a game taking place in the school gym that helped teach the kids about how to care of themselves on the roads.
The local fire service paid a couple of trips to the school as well, giving some helpful tips to the school about fire safety.
As part of the fortnight, the school used various other ways to get the message about a healthy lifestyle over to kids.
The theatre group Hopscotch dropped by as well, presenting the play What A Load Of Rubbish, which was all about recycling.
And there was a chance for pupils to get more active themselves, with primary three - primary six pupils having the opportunity to have a taster session of golf, and work on their swing.
A taste of a different sort was offered when a cookery demo was held for parents and carers.
Pupils were also given the chance to take some guided walks in the local parks.
And the primary six and primary seven pupils were given talks of internet safety.
